Cloud Microphones showed the new Cloudlifter-Z mic activator in New York at the 2011 AES show. Joining the single channel model CL-1 and dual-channel CL-2, the CL-Z adds a comprehensive selection of new features at an extremely attractive price point ($369 MSRP, $299 MAP).
Compact and portable enough to go anywhere, the unit houses direct-coupled, discrete JFET circuitry that delivers ultra-clean, transparent performance to preserve the natural sonic characteristics of the source without coloration. The CL-Z features a selection of input impedances ranging from 150 to 15k ohms, and variable high-pass filtering from below 20Hz up to approximately 250Hz. A new adjustable output level (+12, +25dB) makes the CL-Z ideally suited for use with everything from lower output ribbon microphones like the classic RCA 44, and dynamic mics like the Shure SM7B on quieter sources to higher output mics used for capturing louder material.
Like every other model in the Cloudlifter product group, the CL-Z also solves problems posed by noisy preamps, and can be used to drive stronger, cleaner signals over longer XLR cable runs, making it ideal for both broadcast and live applications. Enclosed in a rugged steel enclosure offering excellent shielding, it is equipped with provisions for stand mounting.
The Cloudlifter “Z” is shipping now and available through our dealer network.
